The Problem
Over a period of years, the interiors of cast iron or steel pipelines develop scale, corrosion and tuberculation. The resultant roughness and reduced diameter, combined with accompanying joint leakage, severely restrict the flow of water. This condition will produce a sharp increase in pumping and maintenance costs and is a threat to adequate fire protection due to substandard hydraulic conditions.
